Gift for Ken@tapestry.blogspot.com

Courtesy from Ken@tapestry.blogspot.com

I delivered Ken's mystery gift by post last wednesday. He won that Mystery Gift from my lucky draw last month. But unfortunately when the gift arrived at his doorstep, the mirror and the frame already broke into two. I was so sad when heard the news from Ken, himself. Otherwise it would be nicely display in Ken's home. I'll definitely will deliver the replacement gift by hand to Ken in the future.

Cross Cultural Marriage

In this semester, my group and I proposed a Cross Cultural Marriage for our research based on Grounded Theory. Grounded theory (GT) is a systematic qualitative research methodology in the social sciences emphasizing generation of theory from data in the process of conducting research. It is a research method that operates almost in a reverse fashion to traditional research and at first may appear to be in contradiction of the scientific method. Rather than beginning by researching & developing a hypothesis, a variety of data collection methods are the first step. From the data collected from this first step, the key points are marked with a series of codes, which are extracted from the text. (Read More)

Back to the research proposal, the lecturer has approved our proposal and we need to work on the sampling. A brief on cross cultural marriage, it happens on a scale on 1 couple out of 10 couples all around the world. This cross cultural marriage can be a marriage between two different races, two different religion, two different cultural, country and so on. Each couple, of course have different experience while making sure the marriage happen. Thus on this research we would like to know their experience and story behind the cross cultural marriage.

Thus, I would like to invite all bloggers that do have a cross cultural marriage to email me with their story as I really need the information for the research. All names will be under P&C basis and will remained unknown.

Revisit Unimas 2009

Revisit Unimas after graduated for almost three years is something that we look forward. Futhermore, the new campus is already in action. Somehow I am sympathy with the old campus that situated next to the new campus with 5 km distance. I was having a memory flashback when i wandering in the old campus. Remember my first night at the campus as the undergraduate student along with Michelle and Jocie since we were put under the same apartment. From that day, we develop a strong relationship with each other and remained close until now. Shirley joined the club later along with Aluyah. I really miss our old days as undergraduate student at Unimas.

On that day, we promised with Melissa to visit her shop (she is now a proud owner of Melissa Enterprise that provide beauty & skincare product based on gamat in Kota Samarahan). She actually asked us to kidnap her as she was too boring to stay in her shop. Funny right. Luckily she have her cousin to be her assistant in this small company of hers. Anyway, enjoy with the slideshows of our revisit to Unimas.

These are few shots that available with me during our day trip to Matang Family Park. This is where I lost both of my handphones. The most saddest things that happen to me during my last holiday. We did enjoyed our time taking photos but when I lost my phones, it ruined my mood. Enough on that sad story.

Once we done with our window shopping trip at Kuching Main Bazaar, we make our journey to Santubong Beach. The purpose is just to enjoying our evening at the beach. The journey from Kuching to Santubong Beach take about 30 to 40 minutes drive depending with the traffic. After spending more than two hours at the beach, we move on to Buntal Village for our dinner. Buntal Village is popular with their seafood restaurant. Moreover the seafood are fresh, affordable and the view is facing the ocean. Definitely recommended for tourist. I was unable to take any picture while we were at Buntal because we were so hungry plus we were distracted with the delicious meal. Even on our way back home, I asked for fried squid to take away...yummy..yummy...

FLOODS FORCE EVACUATION OF 500 IN SARAWAK

KUCHING, Jan 11 (Bernama) -- About 500 residents affected by floods in low-lying areas in the Bau and Kuching districts here were evacuated to 19 relief centres this morning, Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr George Chan said today.

Dr Chan, who is also the state disaster relief committee chairman, said one of the affected villages, Kampung Suba Buan in Bau, had been flooded to a depth of 4.5 metres while two houses in Kampung Bidak in Padawan were damaged by a landslide following continuous heavy rain over the last five days.

"As soon as the weather clears, the relevant authorities will deploy helicopters and boats to bring food supplies and evacuate the 108 stranded villagers in Kampung Suba Buan and other affected villages which have been cut off due to impassable roads," he said when updating reporters on the flood situation at the state operations room in Wisma Bapa Malaysia, Petra Jaya, here.

"However, no casualties had been reported so far," he said, adding that the flood situation was expected to worsen later today, especially with the king tide forecast to rise to 6.1 metres and rain clouds hovering over water catchment areas.

Dr Chan said all elected representatives had been directed to go to their constituencies and assist in the relief and evacuation operations while boat operators plying the Kuching coast were advised to stop navigating due to low visibility and rapid currents.

According to the state Irrigation and Drainage Department, Bau, situated on a bank of the Sungai Sarawak, recorded 370mm of rainfall yesterday, up from 18mm on Tuesday, while Batu Kitang, also on a bank of that river, had 216mm of rainfall yesterday, up from 3mm on Tuesday.

From Me to Him

Stay.wma - Estrella

Sounds straight from the twilight
Has me up all night I can’t
Fall asleep coz I keep thinking of you
And I saw a shadow, outside my window
And it’s you!

c/o
All my sorrows flew away,
Hush keep quiet hear me say
I don’t ever want you to go
Please stay

With the moonlight dancing free
And there’s no one but you and me
There’s no reason to go astray
Please stay

Making up a story
It’s the way you’re looking at me
If you think that this is funny
It’s just you

Try and think about it
If your heart is closed don’t lock it

You often think of the future, and you are always working toward your ideal life.

Also nostalgic, you rarely forget a meaningful moment... even those from long ago.

The Spirit of Bear-iuca

Once upon a time, in a land far, far away, there lived a powerful Genie Princess named Mariuca who was known throughout the land as the friendliest, most popular blogger in the blogosphere kingdom. Adored and admired by international visitors and commentators from around the world, the Genie Princess travels the blogosphere on her magical flying carpet, always looking for ways to share her good fortune with others.

Over the past two years of blogging, Mariuca has met so many new people, from all walks of life and all over the world, each one bringing a little of their culture and lifestyle when they visit and comment on Mariuca’s two sites. So on her 2nd Blog Anniversary, Mariuca wanted to celebrate with all of her international blogosphere buddies by hosting a bear-naming contests at Wishing On A Falling Star and Mariuca’s Perfume Gallery and to pass her two lucky, cuddly teddy bears along to the winners who came up with the best names.

On the opposite side of the world, from the moment Roxy (the prolific Roxiticus Desperate Housewives blogger) and her sweet daughters London and Maddie saw the teddy in his personalized t-shirt and blue muffler at Wishing On A Falling Star, they knew that he needed to come to live with their family in Mendham, NJ. The three New Jersey girls named him immediately and burst into a wonderful song for BEAR-iuca:

BEAR-iuca, BEAR-iuca, amazing teddy cheer.
BEAR-iuca, BEAR-iuca, we’d love you to come live here!

Mariuca received 16 possible names for the Mariuca Teddy Bear, making it hard for the Genie Princess to choose just one…then Alakazam! A bolt of lightning delivered the perfect way to share BEAR-iuca’s good fortune to bloggers around the globe. While the soft, stuffed, cuddly BEAR-iuca is on his way to live with Roxy, London, Maddie and Rex in the Roxiticus Valley, the Spirit of BEAR-iuca is racing through the blogosphere to bring happiness, holiday cheer, and beary best wishes to everyone who welcomes him into their online home and passes along the BEAR-iuca good luck charm to ten friends.

Please play along with us by following a few important rules:

1. Add your site(s) to the list once you have received the Spirit of BEAR-iuca badge of teddy bear cheer.
2. Pass along the Spirit of BEAR-iuca and his cheery badge to as many people as you like.
3. Leave a comment HERE once you’ve passed on the Spirit of BEAR-iuca.
4. Once Roxy and the Genie Princess have visited your site to make sure your links are complete and proper, you will then be added to the Master List.
4. To ensure everyone receives equal link benefit, please UPDATE your list regularly!

Plan Your Holiday to Sarawak

TH has been asking me about getting a travel agency for her as she planning to have a holiday in Kuching Sarawak along with her big family. So, while I was walking by the town, I found out Borneo Interland Travel Sdn Bhd. The service price that they offered are quite reasonable. They offers lots of holiday packages for tourist. There are also other travel agency that are recommended such as CPH Travel Agencies (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd and Borneo Fairyland Travel and Tour Sdn Bhd.

TH, I hope the travel agencies can help to answer all of your inquiries and make your stay at Sarawak a memorable one.

The Winner is....

The winner for Mystery Gift - Christmas Giveaway is (drums rolling....) Ken. His name was picked by lucky draw by Shirley, friend of mine. The mystery gift that I have kept it secret is actually a wood carving mirror with deep Sarawak native motif. Thus, for the additional giveaway on guessing the mystery gift, there is no winner that able to answer it correctly. So Ken, please email me your mailing address so that I can send it to you.

Thanks to the other two participant, TH and Sherry

I will post the picture of the gift soon since I havent had the time to upload all the pictures.

My Christmas Holiday

I just arrived from Kuching last night from my long holiday which is due to Christmas. Thus, I left out lots of work either at the office (sure or not? hehehe..) and blogging and classes for my master studies. Anyway, I lost both of my handphone last saturday at Matang Family Park. I went there with my friends and while busy taking picture at the water stream, I totally forgot about my handbang that I left behind. Actually it was not too far from me as we actually can see it or if any person standing next to it. Not to mention that the thief also took more than RM150 cash money as well. Luckily the theif didnt take my handbag along. I was so down right after I found out that I lost my belongings. Furthermore I dont even dare to tell my mother about it as I was so careless not taking good care of my things. Right after that incident, my friends and I went for my handphone shopping at Wisma Saberkas, which is a place for Kuchingnites to get their handphones and any computer gadgets. Now, I am a Sony Ericsson K810i' user. That's the sad story that came along during my holiday...Whatever..Life must go on...

Other than that sad story, my holidays was superb. Attending the guests visiting to our open house during Christmas, moreover the guests is my relatives and close friends to the family. Same old faces. The babies (my cousins's childrens) are growing fast and naughty as well. I was unable to sit back and relax from 8 am till 6 pm. That is how tiring it can be on 25th December every year together with 1st June for Harvest Festival. I dont even have the chance to take pictures on that day with my family. Everyone was busy cooking, ushering and served the guests. But still it is fun as we only have the chance in twice a year to meet up and gathered the whole families and friends for a celebration. Not to mention is the foods that my sister and my mother cook, chicken cook in the bamboo, grilled chicken, ducks, mixed vegies, 'kacang ma' (chicken cook with herbs), chicken curry etc....I know..there is lots of chicken served on the table.

On the 26th Dec, we attending a wedding mass and be the witness of the Holy Matrimony between Edward Keegan (my cousin) and Jennifer at St Joseph Cathedral, Kuching. Then on the 27th Dec, the newly wed couple held a wedding reception at the Kpg Sibuluh Hall. The reception was fun as all the cousins, nieces & nephews, aunties and uncles dance all night long. Even my mother dance on the floor too... I was like "oh ok..." because I never saw her on the floor before. What a surprise....

Welcoming the new year with my friends at SOHO was fun too. We dance and dance all night and be back at home around 1 am as I am a early sleeper. We also visits our old campus and the new one as well and took pictures.

I will post few pictures soon.
